SPCA Fundraising

Thank you for your assistance in helping the SPCA raise funds for their animals in need.  Our golf day this year is to be held on 9th May 2014.

This is our 4th year of fundraising for the SPCA and there is so much good to report!  Since the start of the fundraising project, amazing strides have been taken in the upgrading of the kennels and surgery.  The surgery has had a total face lift; the roof has been redone, as have the floors and the rooms.  It is all looking professional and clean, a long way from the run down rooms of the past. The parvo unit has been moved and rebuilt away from the surgery and the recovery kennels have also been carefully and professionally rebuilt.  Their acquisition of surgical equipment, vaccines, heart and oxygen level monitors, the latest blood testing equipment and much more necessary equipment has been, or is in the process of being purchased.  The incinerator from last year’s funds has been installed and is working extremely well.  Furthermore, the SPCA is now in a position to charge a nominal fee for the use of these facilities, bringing in much need funds.

However, there is still a long way to go.  The amount of strays, abandoned, abused and sick animals continues to rise.  The care for these animals goes up monthly and it is a constant uphill battle.  Again, we are appealing for your support in our golf day.  If you have participated before, you will know it’s a fun day filled with prizes and few tipples on the way!

Attached please find the Sponsorship and Team Application form and a letter from the SPCA outlining the progress they’ve made.  As an alternative to direct sponsorship assistance with any of their specific requirements would be greatly appreciated.

The cost for sponsoring a hole is $150 - $200.

The cost for a four ball is $200.

Please note that the sponsoring of a hole will be on a first pay, first serve basis for the hole of your choice.

Advertising on the 1st and 18th T-box will be $200 and in the foyer of the club house will also be $200.  The veranda facing the 18th hole will be $200.  The front entrance will also be $200.

No donation is too small and will be gratefully received.

Thanking you in advance for your generosity and support.

Kind regards

Sad Story

A dog was picked up by VAWZ and brought to the surgery.  He had the most terrible burns covering over 30% of his body which had been caused by boiling water [an all too common punishment in Zimbabwe].  We posted pictures of him on Facebook and asked everyone to share in case anyone recognized him and the perpetrators could be prosecuted.  All and sundry were horrified at the cruelty that had been metered out to him but we have as yet not been able to find out who did this cruel deed.  Now two weeks later Phoenix [as we named him] is well enough to be re-homed.  We appeal to someone to open their hearts and offer him a loving home.  Despite what has been done to him, Phoenix has the most gentle and loving personality and he deserves to know the love of a family.  Please share his story and his pictures to all your friends – in the hope of finding him a home.  I reproduce below his before and after photos – an absolute miracle!!

BEFORE …… how could someone be so cruel?

PLEASE GIVE ME A FOREVER HOME

The surgery will castrate and vaccinate him free of charge when a home is offered.

Hie,

There is a stray dog that has decided to live at my home. I have no idea where it is coming from or whether it was vaccinated. I do not want to keep it as I have a toddler to think about. Do you have a facility that can deal with such cases?
